Volunteer of the Month – September 2023
Congratulations to our Volunteer of the Month for September, Raph Buelens.

We all know about Albert Park League. So many of us across Melbourne are able to come together every Monday and enjoy the sport we love all year round. But do you know about the underrated man who was behind the league for nearly 10 years? The one who got to APL way before any of the players, and who stays back after we’re gone to make sure lost property finds its owners?
Rain, hail or shine, Raph did the rounds to put out the cones for all 4 fields, only to go around and pick them all up hours later. He dod this week in week out, all with a smile, so players have nothing to worry about except to show up and play some good Ultimate with their mates.
Raph recently stood aside after being in the APL League Coordinator role since May 2014, so we’re awarding him a well overdue Volunteer of the Month award. He’ll continue to enjoy playing on Monday nights with his team Social Ultimatum.
We all owe Raph a big thanks for his contribution in running the league we all get so much out of for so long. So, next time you see him, let him know you appreciate his efforts, or buy the man a cold drink!
