Volunteer of the Month – October 2018
Ultimate Victoria would like to give a huge THANK YOU to Jaron Salter for his enormous volunteer efforts in regional Victoria.
Jaron Salter is a core member of Wangaratta Ultimate. He has a strong passion for the game and the growth of ultimate in regional Victoria. Jaron strives to build strong connections through regional Victoria in order to help players of all skill levels to develop and learn. He recently collaborated with Albury-Wodonga to create the Albion cup. The Albion Cup is a state of origin style series between Wangaratta Ultimate and Albury-Wodonga Ultimate. Importantly, it allows players from the regional areas to compete in a local tournament. Jaron helped to organise all of the tournament details for the three games held at different locations – Yackandandah, Albury and Wangaratta – during the Albion Cup. After a successful first year, Jaron is planning to run the Albion Cup as an annual event.
Within Wangaratta, Jaron goes above and beyond. He ran the first league and has since been able to assist and guide others in helping to also expand the club. He organises teams, venues, player recruitment, uniform orders, and runs the social media posts for Sunday pick up. Jaron not only helps out with Wangaratta – he also helps the North Central Club. North Central formed to allow regional Victorian players to compete in tournaments such as VMUL, VUL and VMUC.
Jaron brings great excitement and enthusiasm to each team he is involved with. He is a great asset to the Wangaratta Ultimate club.
