Volunteer of the Month – June & July 2023
Congratulations to our Volunteer of the Month for June, Mary Toney, and our Volunteer of the Month for July, Oakleigh Mullan.
Mary and Oakleigh served as the team managers for our two teams attending the inaugural Australian Masters Ultimate Championships in Queensland in July.
Being a team manager is a significant effort, even more so if you are already playing! As well as preparing themselves to compete, they took on the responsibility of organising team accommodation, transport and social activities for the interstate trip. Thanks to their efforts the teams representing Victoria were able to play their best ultimate and enjoy being a part of the campaign.
UV also acknowledges the challenge these roles had, with this event being the first ever dedicated national masters age group tournament. It meant there was no handy “how-to” guide and required Mary and Oakleigh to be flexible in responding to the needs of both UV and the athletes.
