Victorian Club tryouts
With the summer season about to get underway, Victorian clubs with their eyes on the Australian Ultimate Championships will be holding team tryouts during the month of October. Read on to learn more.
Chilly Ultimate Club
For 2023 the Chilly open program will select a squad of 48 players, who will train together until the Christmas break and then split into Hot Chilly (Division 1) and Fresh Chilly (Division 2) at the start of January.
The Chilly women’s program will select 2 teams – Spicy Chilly (Division 1) and Zesty Chilly (Division 2).
Selections will be held on the following dates
- Sunday afternoon October 23rd (all teams)
- Wednesday night October 26 (women’s only)
- Thursday night October 27 (open only)
All tryouts and training take place on McAlpine Oval, located within Sir Zelman Cowan Reserve in Kooyong
Divine Ultimate
Divine Ultimate is a new club based in the City of Whitehorse in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. The club was founded to improve the wellbeing and develop the physical and emotion skills of woman-matching athletes through participation in ultimate frisbee.
Divine are planning to send a women’s team to the 2023 Australian Ultimate Championships Division II
Tryouts will be held
- Tuesday October 18th, 7pm to 9pm
- Saturday October 22nd, 10am to 2pm
The tryout location is TBD but will be in the Burwood/Vermont South area.

Ellipsis Ultimate
Ellipsis is an elite ultimate club, based in Melbourne and drawing upon talent from across Victoria. Founded in 2016 with a single women’s team, the club has expanded to include a men’s team since 2019 and mixed team since 2021.
In 2023 Ellipsis are running women’s and open teams competing at the 2023 Australian Ultimate Championships, and a women’s masters squad.
Tryouts will be held
- Sunday October 23rd, 9am to 12pm at Cooper Reserve in Camberwell (open to all)
- Wednesday October 26th, 6:45pm to 9pm at Noel Clarke Field in Albert Park (invitation only)
Heads of State Ultimate
Heads of State Ultimate are excited to open the Expression of Interest for all Open’s and Women’s team for the 2022/23 season. We’ve got coaches/leadership groups appointed to all teams, fields both on the weekdays and weekends, and a board and high performance committee here to support your development and Ultimate journey.
Heads of State runs two open division teams – Melbourne Juggernaut (Division 1) and Melbourne Carnage (Division 2) – and a women’s team Melbourne Phoenix (Division 2). HoS also hosts casual (pickup) games weekly and a youth program for ages 8 to 16.
Free pickup games open to all players
- Tuesday October 11th, 6pm to sunset
- Thursday October 13th, 6pm to sunset
- Tuesday October 18th, 6pm to sunset
Tryouts for all three teams take place on
- Thursday October 20th, 6pm to sunset
- Tuesday October 25th, 6pm to sunset
- Thursday October 27th, 6pm to sunset
