Online training for volunteers
With a new summer of ultimate frisbee nearly upon us, Ultimate Victoria is keen to support clubs and volunteers in providing a fun and safe experience for players old and new. We have a number of free online training courses available for anyone taking on a new role at their club, or looking to brush up on their experience.
Safe Play Quiz
Between UV and AFDA there are a number of policies in place related to providing all participants with a safe experience playing ultimate. The safe play policies are all listed on our Policies page.
Our short Safe Play Quiz is an “open book” test to ensure you understand the most important elements of the policies, and help reduce the risk of injury or harm to players.
Recommended for: pickup organisers, team captains, team coaches
Club Committee Induction
This course is for volunteers new to a role on the committee of an incorporated club. It will take you through the features and functions of an incorporated club, the key roles and responsibilities committee members have, how to conduct effective meetings, handling member complaints, and more.
With many clubs holding their AGMs in October and November this is a great opportunity to get your new committee members acclimatised with their new role.

UV Instructor Induction
This course will take you through preparing and running sessions for brand new players. Topics include designed a session plan, teaching basic throwing/catching skills, diagnosing common throwing mistakes, and considerations for inclusive coaching.
Completing this course and submitting all pre-requisites also qualifies you for paid coaching work at schools around Victoria through UV programs.
Recommended for: anyone who will be teaching new players how to play this summer!
UV Selector Induction
This course is ideal for anyone who will be involved in preparing tryout sessions and selecting teams for clubs going to tournaments in 2022. It outlines qualities selectors should have, the process for creating selection criteria, planning a tryout session, identifying unconscious biases, and strategies on delivering feedback.

UV Child Safety Practices Induction
With the recent release of UV’s new Child Safety policy, we have put together this course and exam as a supplement to Sport Integrity Australia’s course on child protection and safeguarding to guide flying disc club volunteers on providing a child-safe environment for junior participants.
These two courses are strongly recommended for administrators and coaches at clubs running junior programs.
Recommended for: club committees, team coaches
Ultimate Australia Clubhouse
Ultimate Australia’s coach accreditation program is delivered online through their UA Clubhouse portal. Currently, Community Coach (Level 1) accreditation is free for members to obtain, and qualifies them to deliver the Sporting Schools Ulti-Mates program, and state representative teams.
The online component of the Development Coach (Level 2) accreditation is also available, which prepares prospective coaches for club teams and university teams. UV hopes to deliver the face-to-face component of this course locally in 2022.
Recommended for: team coaches looking to progress to being a club coach, a state team coach, or a national team coach
