2024 Victorian U18 and Masters representative teams

Ultimate Victoria is now accepting expressions of interest for all athletes eligible to represent the state at Under 18 and Masters level in 2024. Read more to find out how to sign up.

UNDER 18s

Unfortunately the Australian Youth Ultimate Championships will not be going ahead in 2024 due to insufficient teams committed to entering. Ultimate Victoria will be conducting an Under 18s mixed gender program that will culminate in attendance at an alternative event in Victoria in the July school holidays.

Signing up at this stage does not commit you to attending training sessions or attending events. It simply gives us permission to contact you with further information about the campaign.

Most squad members began playing in the last 1-2 years, so you’ll be playing with people who are also starting out. There’s no special gear or uniform to buy first, you can just turn up in whatever you are comfortable wearing. Our friendly coaches will teach you how to play, even if you’ve never thrown a frisbee before.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for a Victorian representative team, you must…

a) have resided in Victoria for at least the last three months, or be a member of a club affiliated with UV

b) be in good financial standing with UV and its affiliated clubs

To be eligible for the Under 18 squad you must be born ON or AFTER 1 January 2006.

This form will remain open for submissions until Sunday June 2nd, 2024

U18 OPEN DAY

UV is hosting an Open Day for all eligible players on Saturday May 25th, from 9:30am to 4:00pm, at Caulfield Park. This is an opportunity to come and meet the coaches, and play ultimate with other U18-eligible players. There is no cost to attend, but you must have filled out this form. Lunch and snacks will be provided. Attending this event does not commit you to continuing with the squad – you can make a decision after the Open Day.

UNIVERSITY MIXED ULTIMATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

UMUC runs from Monday July 1 to Thursday July 4 in Cobram-Barooga, on the Murray River about 3 hours drive from Melbourne. Teams will travel up on the Sunday afternoon/evening, and returning on the Thursday evening.

UMUC is a mixed gender event and is used by university clubs as an introductory tournament for first and second year players – the majority of players at this event are aged between 18 and 21. UV will send at least one U18 team, with extra teams will be added if there is sufficient interest.

EXPECTED COMMITMENT

Players will be expected to commit to individual training that fits within their schedule.

Two squad training sessions are scheduled:

Training Day 1 – Saturday June 15th (Caulfield Park)
Training Day 2 – Saturday June 29th (Caulfield Park)

These will be full day sessions, with the start and finish times to be communicated by coaches. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

All selected players will be required to sign a Player Agreement and a Code of Conduct to accept their place on a team.

ESTIMATED COST

The estimated cost of participation in this campaign is approximately $600 covering trainings, tournament accommodation, tournament fees, transport to and from Cobram and basic uniform. Additional optional uniform items will come on top of that. UV will issue invoices in two roughly equal instalments in May and June, with the first being issued upon selection. Payment plans that extend beyond June will be available upon application.

2024 UNDER 18 COACHES

Head Coach – Jasper Pentland

Kat played with the Victorian U18 girls team in 2019 and 2021, and has gone on to represent Australia at the U20 and U24 level, as well as competing at the Australian Ultimate Championships five times.
