2021 OPEN & WOMEN’S SEASON CALENDAR
Ultimate Victoria has released the calendar of events for the upcoming single gender season, running from January to March 2021. Regular events return, along with several new events.
UV Summer Series
The UV Events Subcommittee has created four new tournaments for players who are looking for more variety and flexibility in competition – the UV Summer Series.
Summer Series events are for players who are looking for a step up from pickup or social league, for players who are unable to commit to full weekend tournaments or a club season, and for players who are just looking for a fun day out with friends!
Teams can enter one, multiple or all Summer Series events. All events will have open and women’s divisions.
Put these dates in your calendar now!
Summer Series Ocean Grove – Sunday January 24th, 2021
Played at Shell Road Reserve in the beachside town of Ocean Grove (25min from Geelong), this event will have a later start and an early finish allowing you to recover in the sand and surf!
Summer Series Bundoora Fives – Saturday February 13th, 2021
Smaller fields, smaller teams, shorter games, more fun! Replicating the hugely successful format of UV High School State Championships and Victorian Teachers Games tournaments, Bundoora Fives is great for smaller teams to dip their toes into the tournament scene.
Summer Series Brunswick – Monday March 8th, 2021
Hosted by the Brunswick Ultimate Disc Society, this will be the can’t-miss social tournament of the year! Allard Park in Brunswick will be the place to be on the Labour Day public holiday!
Summer Series Caulfield – Saturday March 27th, 2021
We wrap up a big season in Victoria with a final bash before daylight savings ends. This event will be great for clubs and teams wanting to put a full stop on the summer, and for university clubs to get their new recruits out on to the field for the first time.
Registration for all Summer Series events will open next week.
These events are the real deal – pit yourself and your team against Victoria’s top clubs as they prepare for the Australian Ultimate Championships in April.
Golden City Classic – Saturday January 30th, 2021
Marty Busch Reserve, Sebastopol
One of the oldest continuously running tournaments in Australia is back for the 2021 edition in Ballarat. Running this season as a single day event, this will be the first hit-out for the season for the best teams in the state.
Victorian Ultimate Championships – Saturday February 20th and Sunday February 21st
Frog Hollow Reserve, Endeavour Hills
Victoria’s clubs will descend on Frog Hollow Reserve in Endeavour Hills to battle it out for the right to call themselves state champions. This event is open to all open and women’s teams from across the state, regardless of experience level!
This event serves as the Victorian qualifier for the Australian Ultimate Championships and Australian Ultimate Championships Division II. Victorian teams planning to participate in either of those events must play VUC to be eligible.
March Madness – Saturday March 13th and Sunday March 14th
Fast becoming an iconic event on the single gender season calendar, March Madness is back for 2021. Clubs from Victoria and (COVID restrictions pending) interstate will compete for the title and for momentum going into the Australian National Championships in April.
Registration for VUC opens next week. Registration opening dates for GCC and MM to be confirmed.
Ultimate Victoria is planning an extra event in Victoria that will take place if COVID-19 restrictions leads AUC events not going ahead as scheduled. Details of this event will only be announced if AFDA confirms postponement or cancellation of AUC events prior to Friday March 5th, 2021.
