Gippsport – Pick-up Ultimate Frisbee
What is Ultimate Frisbee?
Ultimate Frisbee is a team sport that is like a cross between netball and American football, played with a flying disc. Teams work together to pass the disc around and try and take a catch in the endzone to score a goal. The sport is non-contact and self referred, so players take responsibility for the safety of themselves, their teammates and their opponents.
Ultimate Victoria acknowledges the support of the Victorian Government.

Sounds interesting, but I have never played before?
That’s all good! As this is a new sport to Gippsland we assume everyone is a beginner on their first session – there’s absolutely no expectation for you to know what you are doing. Our session instructors will show you the basic skills and rules to get into playing a game.
When and where can I try it out?
Bairnsdale
On Mondays you can play at Howitt Park Athletics Field in Bairnsdale from 6pm to 7pm.

What do I wear and what do I need to bring with me?
- Come dressed for exercise. Note you should wear flat shoes or be barefoot only – no cleats/football boots.
- A light and dark top – preferably white and black – so we can balance numbers when we divide into teams.
- A water bottle.
We provide discs, cones, and sun cream.
How much does it cost?
When you get started, the sessions are fully subsidised by Gippsport and Ultimate Victoria. There will be a small pay-to-play fee later down the track that we’ll let you know about.
Do I need to register?
You can pre-register via the link below, or we can help you through the registration process on the day.
When you come to your first session, we’ll ask you to fill out an online survey about your current exercise habits. This helps us get funding to keep subsidising the cost to play.
Anything else I need to know?
We’re a primarily social group aimed at welcoming new people to the sport. If you’re experienced, note that we don’t play with stacks, forces, hard cuts, or zone defense.
