COVID-19 Certification

As we prepare for a return to playing ultimate and other flying disc sports, the Victorian government has indicated that participants in community sport will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in their roadmap of restriction levels in the coming months.

The roadmap document for metropolitan Melbourne can be viewed here. For regional Victoria, click here.

Vaccination assists in preventing the spread of COVID-19 to vulnerable members of the community. People who are fully vaccinated have a much lower risk of becoming infected and if they do contract COVID-19, they have a much lower risk of infecting others, serious illness, hospitalisation, and death.

UV has confidence in the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI). We rely on their guidance about the safety of COVID-19 vaccines.

UV is introducing a Certification process for members to reduce the need to verify vaccination or contraindication status every time they play. Certification will be tied to your membership profile, so you will need to have your status verified by Ultimate Victoria for the next event or program you register for.

  • Register for a league, tournament, or program through the UV Events Registration Portal
  • After registering, email documentation of your vaccination or contraindication status to certify@ultimatevictoria.com.au
  • UV will cite the status documentation and update your registration
  • Your status will remain valid for future events in the Portal for up to 3 years

Register

Register for any event or program through the UV Events Registration Portal using your AFDA/Ultimate Central account as you normally would.

Towards the end of your registration, you will be prompted to provide documentation of your vaccination or contraindication status via email to UV – certify@ultimatevictoria.com.au

Your registration will then stay as pending/incomplete until your documentation is cited.

Team managers or club administrators will still be able to register team lists in bulk, but individual players will still need to email their documentation to UV.

You will not be permitted to participate in the event or program until your registration is marked as complete.

Documentation

Documentation of your vaccination status must be provided in the form of your COVID-19 Digital Certificate from the Australian Immunisation Register. Click here for guidance in how to retrieve or obtain your certificate.

If you received your vaccination overseas, you can get your records added to the AIR by a recognised vaccine provider in Australia.

UV recognises that medical contraindications exist for COVID-19 vaccination – conditions that serve as a reason not to take a certain medical treatment due to the harm that it would cause the patient. If you have a medical contraindication, this will need to be verified and documented by a qualified medical practitioner, and UV will need to cite that documentation. Documentation of your contraindication status must be provided in the form of a medical certificate from a qualified medical practitioner.

Citation

Any documentation sent to UV will be handled in accordance with UV’s Privacy Policy. UV staff are subject to professional standards in handling member information and will not disclose any information to any third party unless obligated to do so by law.

No digital copies will be made of documentation that you send to UV. UV email accounts are protected using two-factor authentication.

UV will endeavour to confirm your status with 72 hours of email receipt. For expediency, please send it from the same email address used for your AFDA/Ultimate Central account. Same-day verification cannot be guaranteed, so please consider this when registering for your next event or program.

Once your certification is cited, you will receive an email notification advising you that you have been “Accepted” to the event you registered for. If you do not receive any such notification after five business days, please send a follow up email to certify@ultimatevictoria.com.au to confirm if your certification was received.

UV will permanently delete all emails and attachments sent for certification after 28 days of receipt, or any period that is reasonably necessary to satisfy our legal obligations (whichever is less).

Citation is only available through this process for UV owned and managed events such as Albert Park League, and the Victorian Ultimate Championships. Clubs may offer temporary citation for new players – please contact clubs directly to enquire about this.

Status

After initial citation of your status documentation, you will not need to repeat this process for events and programs in Victoria using the UV Events Registration Portal for up to 3 years, except in the following circumstances:

  • The Victorian government changes requirements on vaccination status for participation in community sport
  • UV procedures are superseded by a higher authority such as AFDA or WFDF
  • You create a new AFDA/Ultimate Central account
