Through The Jungle

Setup

  • Four cones
  • One disc

Objective

  • Get the disc to the other end (“through the jungle”) without it hitting the ground or being intercepted

Area

  • Use four cones to mark out a rectangular area, with the disc starting at one end, and the goal at the other

Functions

  • Players are in pairs or groups of three. One pair/group starts with the disc at one end (“explorers”), and all other players space themselves around the “jungle”
  • The players in the jungle are “monkeys in the trees” and cannot move their feet, but can move their arms. They try and knock the disc down whenever it is in the air – they cannot knock it out of an “explorer’s” hand
  • “Explorers” cannot walk or run with the disc, they can only move the disc by throwing
  • If the disc hits the ground, the “explorers” go back to the start and try again. Each pair/group gets three attempts
  • If they make it through, they swap with “monkeys” and a new pair/group become “explorers”

Safety

  • “Monkeys” can’t make contact with “explorers”

CHANGE IT ideas

  • Area: make the space bigger to make it easier for “explorers” to find space and make passes
  • Number: have two pairs/groups of “explorers” playing at once
  • Game Rules: allow “monkeys” to move one foot to reach further and make it challenging for “explorers”
